You never know when inspiration will find you.
Ever had a piece of furniture that you love but hate?! Maybe you love it for sentimental reasons, its pretty legs or the awesome storage options it gives you. But. You really don’t like the way it looks. Well, you could say that about the vintage sideboard we got from the hubs parents way back when and even though I had my mother-in-law’s blessing to “do whatever you want with it”, I just couldn’t make up my mind. For ever.
Then right in the middle of all the holiday hustle-and-bustle…
Inspiration found me.
Buffet Makeover Inspired By a Blue Christmas Vignette
And, that’s how inspiration works my friends.
You just never know where or when it will find you.
Oh, it’s out there. Somewhere.
You can’t force it.
And, if you’re like me it may hit you just as you sit back to admire your Christmas tree and thumb threw a few pages of your favorite magazine.
And, it might just be a blogger’s project you spy. Like the beautiful blue one I saw in HGTV magazine by Tonya of Love of Family and Home.
Because like I mentioned, the buffet was on my list of projects to complete for a very long time and if you follow me on Instagram you might remember I asked for your help in deciding over a year ago.
But the inspiration I needed was not happening so I had to be patient. And I think the wait was so worth it.
I saw Tonya’s project and knew blue all over with dark hardware is what I wanted. Finally.
I didn’t go with the exact blue, I used Provence by Annie Sloan instead. It’s one of my favorites!
And for the hardware I used black spray paint in a gloss finish.
Something different than the typical way I approach a furniture redo. And, that my friends is what I love about DIY.
It’s a blank canvas to do whatever you please!
Oh, to “be inspired” what a concept.
Where do you find your inspiration for DIY projects? I’d love to hear.
