Two loves collide.
a DIY Christmas card display and thrift benefit for sheltered animals
Today I’m joining dozens of bloggers across the country to do a little good. We’re all gettin’ creative and helping animals in need of homes, food, veterinary care and more…all at the same time!
A big hug goes out to my friend Jeanette of Country Design Style for inviting me again this year to her Annual Thrift Benefit for Sheltered Animals. Check out the Studded Pet Kennel I created for last year’s event.
Two simple things that make very happy are …
my dog and …
my love for all things DIY.
It’s fun shopping in these special treasure troves. Let me show you what I found and how you can repurpose your next thrifty find.
The thrift store was using this wooden piece as an earring display. Cool right?
My thought when I bought it was to paint it silver to go with my West Elm knock off. But once I cleaned it up, it dawned on me it kind of looked like a Christmas tree that was missing the top.
And, that my friends is the secret ingredient to repurposing, upcycling or whatever you like to call it.
Don’t limit your creativity.
Sure it made a perfectly nice jewelry holder.
But with a touch of paint…
In my favorite color – Green! I’m kind of obsessed with this particular shade by Annie Sloan.
A basic linen white on the base and a bit of sanding to show off it’s new beautiful boughs. 😉
Followed up with my trusty glue gun and doodads from my craft stash (starfish from an old wreath and mini clothes pins).
There you have it! A new life for my thrifty find.
What do you think?
Now please join me in visiting with the talented group of bloggers on this year’s thrift benefit. Let’s check out their awesome DIYs.
October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month and you can go to aspca.org/adopt to find a shelter in your area.
