DIY Home Office Reveal

Do you have a room you call your own?

Is it just for you?

No one else?my happy place diy office art

DIY Home Office Reveal

It has a place for everything and everything’s in its…

not quite.  But I’m happy, anyway.

A perfectly imperfect DIY project.

When we built this house I knew I would find a way to carve out a space of my own (and I’m talking other than the laundry room, my friends).

The one bedroom downstairs was definitely calling my name!

It had to be a flexible space, though.

And, by flexible I mean super comfortable for guests to stay at a moment’s notice. {We live in Florida after all. It happens.}

And, that is how I came to design the desk to also be the bed.

Yes, the desk is the bed and the bed is the desk.

It folds right down to a queen sized bed supported by the desk’s floating shelves. diy blogger desk and murphy bedComfortable to sleep on is not what you’re imagining, right now, is it?

Oh but it is.  I’ve been told by our friends and family who have stayed over it’s quite love-ly. And the fact I’ve yet to paint the base (aka the shelves) doesn’t seem to both anyone either.

Back to the reveal part.

I think it the personal touches like hanging art on the walls that’s fun and functional that makes this my happy place.

Not to mention, it’s easy for me to feel motivated and stay endlessly inspired.home office decorating

But … Above all, my happy place keeps me focused on making time for the ones I love the very most in this world.

Sure, no problem sweetie, I’d love to! Can I come… anything Great Gatsby sounds fun!

Here’s to you finding your happy place and a room or corner in your home to call your own.

  8. I LOVE it! I have been thinking one day I want to move into a “tiny home” and I keep thinking a pull down bed would save so much space. This is perfect! Do you have any photos of it with the bed pulled down? For curiosity sake. Thanks!

  9. Oh! And that card catalog file? Swoon!

  10. That is great! I’ve seen ads to make a murphy bed but honestly they looked complicated and expensive. It’s good to see yours. It doesn’t look scary, your desk and shelves I can imagine as a support for a mattress. Thanks. I came over from Not Just a housewife.

  11. What an awesome desk/bed! Genius!
