Creating a beautiful home takes time, this I know for sure!
You want your dream home to reflect your life’s passions, sense of style and favorite mementos but you also have real life things like dirty laundry and sticky floors to take into consideration.
To blend one’s style and panache with “the practical” isn’t always easy…
And, as every homemaker knows,
What’s on the floors can make or break you!
I dished on my hardwood flooring tips a while back and now I’d like to share a few pearls I picked up on How To Choose the Right Rug.
First though, I have a confession…The rug is my family room is way too small! The dinky shag we have in there is wrong, plain and simple. Of course, I’ve been well-aware of (and slightly irritated by) this decorating-don’t since the moment we moved in, almost 2 years ago! Truth is, it’s never felt right and that green rug stayed there simply because it was way down on my priority list, my Home Projects: Priority List , that is. Sure, it bugged me (almost every. single. day.) but… All good things in time, right?
Well, the time came!
I went online to PlushRugs.com and found so many cool rugs. See…
I think I’m most in love with the natural sea grass rugs but I’m seriously swooning over the beautiful, bright, bold colors and patterns too.
But! Before I could narrow it down to the one I had to be sure of size.
For our family room change, I went with the measurements from our floorplan then really thought about the way we live and hang out in there.
To choose the right rug, ask yourself:
#1 How big/small is the area?
#2 How do you use and live in that space?
#3 What’s your first preference in color and material?
Those 3 little questions along with the super helpful infographic courtesy of Plush Rugs’ blog made it as easy as 1,2,3 for me pick the perfect rug for our family room.
So, which gorgeous rug above do you think I went with?
