Copper is a darling addition to any home’s decor but keeping it polished and pretty has kept me far, far away until I learned this little trick.
How To Clean COPPER fast!
I love when different metallic finishes are used in a home. To me, decorating with metals (whether it’s brass, copper, nickel, chrome) is an effortless way to add a sprinkle of panache.
I don’t know what it is about metallic that makes it so appealing to me. Maybe the reason I’m drawn to it is the touch of glam I think it brings as it bounces light around a space in the beautiful, unexpected ways.
But then there’s the reality of keeping it tarnish free. Hmm, like that’s going to happen!
Who wants the job? Not me.
So when I spied this nifty copper canister set at the Fancy Flea a couple of weeks ago…(mind you they DID NOT look clean like this) I almost passed!
Until, the sweet lady selling them caught me eyeing them and said,
You know about the ketchup, right?
As in, the red stuff you have in the fridge right now.
I squirted a good amount on a paper towel,
wiped it on,
let it sit a minute or two,
then rinsed it off in the kitchen sink.
Crazy! It does all the work!
There you have it. An old fashioned, chemical free way of cleaning copper that works like a charm.
Fear the tarnish no more, you know the power of the condiment!
Do you have any ‘off-label’ uses up your sleeve? I’d love to hear.
