Don’t get me wrong, I can whirl a paint brush with the best of ’em but our entire home is done in that orange peel-y stuff! And, my Type A self admits I let my wall’s texture hold me back from painting the groovy geometric patterns and big fat stripes I really want. And yes, I’ve
been quite happy stuck with our boring walls since we moved in, almost 2 year ago! I know, pretty sad for a DIY chick, right.
I’m not sure if it’s a need for perfection or fear of the dreaded paint bleed that has made me settle. Long story, short: I’m over it! Here’s how it went down (or should I say up)!
Now don’t get all antsy! This project ( I put off for months & months & months) ended up taking me a total of 3 hours to complete. What the heck! Why did I wait so long, again? Oh right.
Well now, thanks to FrogTape® Textured Surface™ , I know the perfectionist in me doesn’t have to stress about paint bleed anymore. It’s like there’s magic in the PaintBlock® Technology because my perfectly imperfect walls finally met their match!
Our youngest daughter’s bright bold happy bedroom was coming right along with her little desk redo and cute, artsy gallery wall. It was when she insisted wanted her bed on the angle when I pretty much came to a screeching halt in there. I couldn’t wrap my brain around it.
I finally started to think about it. Maybe DIYing another upholstered headboard when I thought, “Why not try a faux headboard?”
Draw a line with a pencil where you want the top of stripe. Check to be sure it’s level.
Place your top tape line first, checking to make sure it’s level and straight at various points.
Then burnish the edges of tape with your fingernail (or a credit card works too).
The only thing left to do is remove the tape while the paint is still wet and …you’re done!
Leave me a comment 🙂 or better yet, email me a pic of your project! I’d love to hear from you my friend.
