One of my favorite things to eat and enjoy are fresh fruits and vegetables. I’m a huge fan. I love ’em! Everything from brussell sprouts and beets to strawberries, spinach, kiwi and kumquats. I’ve found a key part to of enjoying Mother Nature’s bounty is having easy way to clean it! Of course, there are a bunch of different ways to do that but I’ve found it I don’t clean them right when I bring them home from the market, they tend to go to waste. So I always like to get this simple ‘bath’ asap! Here’s what I do to keep ours looking and tasting the best. How to wash and preserve produce the natural way!
It’s super easy. No need for explanation with the little cheat sheet I made for you. (above) But real quick, I’ll tell you…
Start with whatever fruits and veggies you like.
Gently place them in the bottom of a clean sink.
Fill your sink with cool water. About half way up or just enough to cover your produce. Pour in 1/2 to 1 cup of good old fashioned white vinegar. And let the soak for 30 minutes to an hour. Pat dry with clean paper towels. And you’re good to go!
To use them in a display or centerpiece, I use a tiny dot of olive oil to shine them up a bit and gently coat the surface.
Oh and just for the record, yes my absolute favorites are actually brussel sprouts and beets! yum!!!!For other ways to clean naturally, you might like:
