Have you decked your halls yet? Well if not, this weekend would be perfect! Find the time {and a can of gold spray paint ;)} and you’ll be all set because I have a few Practically Free Rustic Chic Christmas decorating ideas you might want to throw together to spruce of your abode for this festive holiday season.
Recently on a trip to the mall, I was inspired to give our front room a mini makeover. After a leisurely stroll through ZGallerie {man, does that place have some sexy decor or what?!}, I’m usually more of a Ballard Designs chick but after just a few minutes in Z, I knew I must have more gold in my life!
I’m loving all of the glamorous chic Golden Accents and color schemes these days, aren’t you?

Don’t get me wrong, a little gold can go a long way.
And, then when we were away for our Thanksgiving holiday, I stumbled upon a lovely little branch. {actually, I tripped over the thing on the golf course. ok, it was on the fringe of the course. don’t ask.} Hang in there you’ll see where I’m going with this.
Anyway, it was love at first sight. I instantly knew that this delicate twig could make a wonderful (and practically free) rustic chic Christmas centerpiece. I hosed that baby off and let it dry over night.
voila!
Mr. Branch meet a gorgeous shade of spray paint – Gold!
I used Rust-oleum’s American Accents bright metallics in the GOLD – designer finish that I bought at Walmart.
Pop a few shimmery Christmas ornaments on it and boom! One cheap-chic centerpiece for the coffee table .
Next on my list for the mini-makeover to add in rustic glam was a DIY Christmas ornament topiary.
With a couple dozen or so old Christmas ornaments I had from years ago, a small wooden dowel, a piece of floral foam and a ceramic pot I already, I made two mini Christmas tree topiaries. This has to be the quickest and easiest DIY. ever. Just slide the ornaments hanging loop onto the dowel and that’s it.
You can totally fit that into your weekend, I just know it! 😉
And, last but not least {actually these are best bit of gold in the whole room}…
Golden sprays I picked up for 1/2 off at one of my favorite sources, Val’s Baskets. Score!
All told, that’s about $20 bucks to make over our front room considering they spray paint and the above beauties are all I actually had to buy.
Oh and I also threw some of our bigger ornaments in a jumbo glass bowl.
ta da!
