h my goodness! Have you ever gone someplace a friend recommended? I mean the “must-try” came from someone you consider to have great taste so you had pretty lofty expectations from the get-go. And, when you finally went… it exceeded everything you’d heard or even imagined it would be! Hello! Welcome to The Oxford Exchange: A Classic, Contemporary Hip-Hybrid.
Let’s go in…
Just FYI: I am not in any way affiliated with OE and this is not a sponsored post. I’m just a huge fan and it’s one of my very favorite places.
From the moment I walked in the front door I knew this was a super special place and thought how happy I was I’d taken the ‘recommendation’ and checked it out. My second thought was Wow! I’m so excited little ole’ Tampa has such a cool, big-city-type hang out now – pinching myself.
I actually had to compose myself and try not jump around like the-kid-in-a-candy-shop I was feeling like. I mean this is a place unlike any I’ve ever been.
Imagine: your favorite bookstore, spot to grab coffee, tea room, gift shop, home store and restaurant all-in-one; that’s the Oxford Exchange. And it totally works!
See for yourself. You walk in through the most interesting bookstore.Offering some of the most unique publications one could hope to have in a collection.
Here’s a couple that caught my eye.
Through the bookstore, you enter a beautiful corridor with a herringbone-patterned plank floor and luscious wood paneling where you’ll find a yummy coffee bar.
And, did you see the coffered ceiling and the perfect pendant? Sooo nice…
And, the Buddy Brew Coffee baristas make my caffeine just the way I like it. (sweet!)A beautiful glass ceiling casts soothing shadows and lovely light which makes for a relaxed atmosphere to be productive, just socialize or dink around on Pinterest.
Now take a peek in the atrium there. Do you see the most exquisite detailing on the white brick walls? The timeless craftsmanship seriously made me all tingle-y inside.
And, right around the corner from the tea bar is the best spot in the entire place (in my personal DIY designer and decorating opinion, ha).
Take a minute to look around.
It’s such a nice escape; and, it’s all good. I promise. (Just look at those chairs…and how about the circular drawer pulls on the sideboard, Ooh-la-la!)
From the metal industrial letters and glass bubble butterflies to the …
totally cool Capitaine trunk; it’s all good. Am I right?
So good! Drink it all in. It’s a home decorating enthusiast’s dream cocktail.
How about that key? The key to Tampa, perhaps? (I’d like that on my coffee table, thank you).
OK. Now when you start to feel light-headed from the fabulous OE eye-candy; take a break and grab a bite in the restaurant.
It’s organic, fresh and local. I went for the Chicken Palliard. Mouth-watering and scrumptious.
When you’re done, sit back and relax a minute before you meander through the shop again on your way out. Maybe there’s a gift you’ve meant to pick up for someone special (or that hard-to-buy-anything-for friend … or even yourself ;)).
There’s a little something for everyone at OE.
From pretty and purposeful papers to a lovely lobster pillow…
or maybe take home the ever popular lavender ‘soap on a rope’ (from the Netherlands, no less).
That’s what I picked up to remember my newest, favorite place: the Oxford Exchange.
Thanks for coming along with me.
When do you want to meet for tea?
Cheers to you and yours,
