Oh what fun it is to Welcome Home Christmas with a Family Decorating Day! aka how to kick off the Most Wonderful Time of the Year without going nuts!
Our family’s tradition has always been to get all of our Christmas decorating done the day after Thanksgiving. That’s right; no Black Friday shopping for us. The hubs and I much prefer to get our tree decorated, lights up outside and all of the holly-jolly displays done on one big, blow-it-out marathon day. But this year, we decided to mix it up and get everyone in on the fun!
It happened quite by accident and it was awesome! Actually, my mom suggested it at our last-minute holiday soiree. So over the weekend, we got together at Nani & Granddad’s to kick off the Most Wonderful Time of the Year like never before. We cranked our favorite Christmas carols and lugged everything down from the attic while my cousin made her famous cinnamon rolls in the kitchen. Everyone pitched in to decorate and had so much fun together!
I dressed up the breakfast room’s chandy with a little fake mistletoe and pretty red ribbon.
While my sister strung the lights on the Christmas tree, ours girls got all of our stockings up and I went to work on the rest of the mantel.
We added lots of pretty gold ribbon around the tree and everyone put their favorite ornaments up.
It was really a special day together. And we all agreed it put us even more in the Christmas spirit by doing it together.
(side note: Before Thanksgiving I gave their dining room a makeover which included this chandelier. Stay tuned for the before & after. )
Anyway, I’m hoping we make this our new tradition now. It was waaay more fun! And, of course, Nani’s super happy to have her house looking so beautiful for the holidays.
Thank you for stopping by and visiting! I hope you enjoyed our Welcome Home Christmas with a Family Decorating Day, be sure to Take the Tour (Dec 1-Dec 3rd) for a lot more falalala fun and holiday inspiration!
